Freda's Garden:

Welcome to my Garden:
This is the flag that flies over Valley Forge.
Although there were no battles fought here,
you might say this is where our nation was
conceived. That long, hard winter that
Washington and his men endured set the pace
and the determination of all the Patriots.

BIRTH OF THIS NATION
The birth of this nation
Came at a price.
To say they lived happy ever-after,
Would be false, but nice!

Our forefathers perused a dream,
Put their lives right on the line.
Some gave all their money,
Some had health decline.

A few died as paupers,
Born to wealth, were they,
All had a vision...
To be free one day.

They signed the document, not lightly,
They put their heart right in it.
It has stood the test of time,
Though some would destroy it in a minute!

I wonder if those men,
That gave in such a way,
Would feel some betrayal
In this nation of today?
