This is Mount Vernon, President Washington's home.
If Washington and his rag-tag Continental Army had
not had the unity of both God and each other, they would
never have defeated the powerful British Army! When a
nation is unified or a body of believers are unified, they
can accomplish great things! Christ prayed for unity, it
was very important to him! Today's poem is from
John 17
UNITY
Christ prayed for unity
Just before His arrest,
For He knew that soon,
They would be put to the test.
Unity was so important,
When Christ knew He would die,
"Father, protect those you have given me,"
Was His fervent cry!
Satan has many tools,
Pleasures of destruction,
But none quite so effective,
As discord and defection.
If brother fights with brother,
And sisters can't on each depend,
How can Christians ever hope
This fallen world to win?
