Welcome to my Garden:
This is a calendar picture, but it certainly depicts simpler times!
SIMPLER TIMES
A penny candy
And a nickel ice cream cone.
Simpler times....
When crime in neighborhood's were unknown.
Kids were free to roam around,
Looking for pop bottles to redeem,
For a matinee movie,
Or a double-dip ice cream.
Doctors were your friends.
They often made house calls.
You had a corner drug-store.
No one had heard of malls.
You were lucky to have a room,
Shared by a sibling or two.
Simpler times....
When you knew everyone on the avenue.
Respect of God and country
Were not just shared by few,
The majority of this nation,
Held this honored view.
So, let's get back to simpler times,
Before computers, cell phones and such,
When neighbors were really neighbors
And families kept in touch!
